EMDR therapy in California
You may understand what happened and still feel your body react as if it is happening again. Insight can be important, but it does not always change the fear, shutdown, shame, or vigilance that shows up automatically.
EMDR can help us work with experiences that continue to feel unfinished, including trauma, painful relationships, medical crises, loss, and moments that changed how you see yourself.

What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a structured psychotherapy approach that uses bilateral stimulation while you attend to parts of a difficult memory or belief. The goal is not to erase what happened. It is to help the memory become less immediate and less controlling.
We start with preparation
EMDR is not about rushing into the hardest experience. We begin by understanding what brings you in, building ways to stay present, and deciding together what feels appropriate to address. Preparation may take more than one session, and we can slow down or return to regular talk therapy when needed.
What we might work on
Traumatic or frightening experiences
Relationship injuries and attachment wounds
Panic, shame, or persistent self-criticism
Medical trauma, crisis work, or sudden loss
Memories that still feel physically present
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to describe every detail?
No. EMDR does not require you to tell the complete story aloud. We will discuss enough to work safely and understand what you need.
Can EMDR be provided online?
Yes. I offer EMDR through telehealth when it is clinically appropriate, with preparation for privacy, grounding, and what to do if the connection is interrupted.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no universal timeline. It depends on your history, goals, current stability, and how your system responds. We will review the work together rather than committing to a predetermined number of sessions.
Training and getting started
I offer EMDR while completing training through an EMDRIA-approved program and practicing under supervision through the Center for Mindful Psychotherapy.
Telehealth is available throughout California. See Services and Fees for session lengths, rates, and sliding-scale availability.
